Everything you need to knowOn August 24, Maharashtra has announced a state-wide bandh. A Bharat Bandh was announced earlier on August 21 by a number of organizations and political parties in opposition to the Supreme Court’s ruling to eliminate the “creamy layer” from the SC/ST quota.

On August 21, a number of organizations and political parties called for a Bharat Bandh in protest of the Supreme Court’s decision to exclude the “creamy layer” from the SC/ST quota. Several states, including Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Odisha, Jharkhand, and Bihar, were affected by the bandh. It has now been agreed by Maharashtra to hold a state-wide bandh for tomorrow, August 24.

 

By whom was the Maharashtra Bandh called?

On August 24, the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has declared a “Maharashtra bandh.” The state assembly’s opposition leader, Vijay Wadettiwar, declared that all MVA allies would take part in the bandh on August 24.

What is tomorrow’s Maharashtra Bandh?

 

The bandh has been scheduled in protest of two young girls who are allegedly victims of sexual assault at a school in the Thane district’s Badlapur. The Sena UBT leader, Uddhav Thackeray, said on Thursday that the bandh’s goals are to draw attention to the significance of women’s safety and to force the government to take action.

Furthermore, he asserted that individuals who support the alleged sexual assault of two young girls and the Badlapur demonstration are either strange people or the sympathizers of the offenders.

Will tomorrow be a closed day for universities and schools?

As there has been no announcement in this regard as far, schools and colleges will carry on with their regular operations.

On the other hand, establishments that close on Saturdays will stay closed.

Everything on the sexual assault case in Badlapur

Last week, there were reports of sexual molestation of two kindergarten-aged girls at a school in Badlapur, Maharashtra, by housekeeping staff. On August 17, authorities took a school staffer into custody following reports that she had abused the girls.

This move infuriated the Badlapur community profoundly.

On August 22, the Bombay High Court took suo motu cognizance of the two girls’ alleged sexual assault and seized the case.

The investigation has started from every perspective,

and the High Court has been told that “there will be no mistake anywhere,” according to ANI.
