According to Drik Panchang, Sawan will take place over 29 days, from July 22 to August 19.
Worshippers of Shiva place particular emphasis on the Sawan Somwar Vrats, which are held every Monday. The dates of July 22, July 29, July 5, August 5, August 12, August 12, and August 19 are the dates of the first, second, third, and fifth Sawan Somwars.

To preserve the universe, Lord Shiva took the poison, which caused his throat to turn blue and gave him the name Neelkanth. This legend emphasises Lord Shiva’s protecting and kind personality, which is honoured throughout the month of Sawan.
